ELLE MINKIE

"Oh Tania! You poor, poor girl. What have you gotten yourself into?

Before I get into everything, I’ll just refresh your memory: When we last left Tania she had just defeated her Dark Angel for the first time and was preparing to jet-set around Europe while her awesome and sexy as boyfriend Orlando was setting off for design school in Dallas; having saved one of her best friends and seriously marking herself as an enemy to the dark side, Tania was now faced with the constant inevitability that somewhere, someday her Dark Angel would return to finish what it started...

So here we are again in ‘Twisted Heart’, Tania has returned home to visit her recently hospitalised mother and something dark is brewing in the local Turner Lake; something to do with the New Dawn community-a “boot-camp/brat-camp” centre set up in the middle of the surrounding forests. Whatever is happening, it’s definitely bad-especially when one of the kids from the centre ends up drowning during the camp’s triathlon…and it looks like it wasn’t an accident.

A lot of the things I enjoyed about ‘Twisted Heart’ are like those I enjoyed in ‘Dark Angel’; Tania and Orlando are one of my favourite literary couples, their relationship isn’t always perfect but they are perfect for each other…itthat makes sense. And, of course, a good mystery is never complete without its atmosphere, and boy does Eden Maguire know how to create that-from the magic of the dream catcher to the horror of skeletons from the old and flooded town rising through the lake, Maguire really knows how to make her readers skin crawl with suspense.

Although, as much as I hate to say it, 'Twisted Angel' did fall short of my expectations; mostly because it seemed to follow the template of ‘Dark Angel’ very closely; it’s not exactly the same but I was hoping for a bit more of a change up when it came to twists, particularly when it comes to Tania and her friends.

On the whole, the story does move really well, I finished it in one sitting, it would make the perfect pool side read: easy breezy with some psychedelic magic and mesmerizing romance."

JUST ME

After only being able to read half way through the first book in this series (Dark Angel) I was unable to pick up the story in Twisted heart. Eden Maguire is a great writer and I love her writing style however the idea behind Twisted Heart is something that I do not agree with and therefore do not find interesting. I think that these books would be loved by some, it just depends on your favoured genre of books.

" I loved the second book as much as the first, it was full of mystery and suspense with romance never out of sight. Tania is back but so is the dark angel, it is her job to stop him from separating young lovers. With young lovers very easy to find Tania must work fast to find him before he strikes again, a mission almost impossible as the day angel can take any form or shape and can look like anyone.

Be ready to look at everyone twice for the Twisted Heart will have you second guessing everything. "

RIVER

This is indeed tantalizingly twisted and is definitely number one on my summer dates list. Would recommend to anyone who wants to see more unexpected surprises in Tania's dark tale...

"Wow.
In my last review, I described DARK ANGEL as intense. Well, this book is intense times infinity. I was practically holding my breath the entire time; it's a marvel I didn’t pass out.

At the end of the last book, we were left with a massive cliffhanger. Zoran had fled, and the world is still in danger of his beautiful, mystifying influence.

I was a bit disappointed, because this book felt almost the same as DARK ANGEL-which isn’t to say that it’s too much of a bad thing, since DARK ANGEL was pretty fantastic-I would have preferred it to differ slightly, perhaps go about Zoran and his soul-snatching ways in a different manner. There were far too many similarities between the books, so I may as well have been reading DARK ANGEL.

Despite that, though, I found myself loving this book. It holds the same thrill, the same danger, the same feeling of your heart being stuck in your throat as the first book. I think this is mostly because of Maguire's writing style. She writes wonderfully, leaving out all the fillers and info-dumps, and keeping the story going.

I can't wait for the next book, BROKEN DREAM, but I'm afraid I might go insane if I don’t read it soon. I have to know what happens next."
